From 1545 to 1563, in an effort to reform the church, Catholic bishops and cardinals agreed on several doctrines. These doctrines included: The Church’s interpretation of the Bible was final. Christian needed faith and good works for salvation, and Indulgences were valid expressions of faith. The following pope in 1559, Paul IV, carried out these doctrines successfully and relayed them out to Catholic bishops.
