The Daws Act of 1887 was created for the purpose of incorporating Native American Indians into U.S. Society by ridding them of their cultural and social traditions. This act authorized the government to divide tribal lands into individual plots and only Native American who accepted the individual plot would be allowed to become a U.S. citizen.
