As Mexico sent more troops and built new new forts in Texas, one of the garrisons was located in Anahuac. An American supporter of the Mexican government named Colonel John Bradburn was placed in charge of this garrison. Colonel Bradburn was in charge of enforcing the new laws from 1830 and that caused conflict. As tensions escalated, Bradburn arrested William Travis and Patrick Jack in 1832. Over 200 settlers from towns around attack the garrison to free Travis and Jack. Bradburn decides to request additional troops from Mexico.
