The Battle of Dunkirk was the defence and evacuation to Britain of the British and other allied forces in Europe. The allied troops were trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk after Germany advanced into France. This was a military operation which took place both in air and in the sea. Hundreds of Civilian Boats and Naval Vessels were used in the evacuation.
