The Kingdom of Mutapa – sometimes referred to as the Mutapa Empire, Mwenemutapa, was a Zezuru kingdom which was centered in the Zambezi valley in what are the modern states of northern Zimbabwe, north western Mozambique and south eastern Zambia. Written history is only known from their contact with the Kalanga and the Portuguese.
