In the early 100's, the empire stretched from Britain south to Egypt, and from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Syrian Desert. But it did not stay large for long. By the early 200's, emporers gave up some of the land that the Roman army had conquered. Onl ybecause they thought that th eempire would become to big to defend.
