The English Civil war was fought because of the political differences, and the struggle for balanced power. the first two were between Charlies I and Long Parliament, and the third was between Charlies II and the supporters of Rump Parliament. The war eventually ended with Parliament winning and gaining more power over the monarch, affecting the whole government structure for a long time.
