Marco Polo was a Venetian merchant who traveled Eurasia and chronicled his journeys in his books. His stories and accounts of the Eastern world did much to further European knowledge and curiosity of the outside world. His book would eventually be one of the driving forces of European exploration in trying to find a quicker route to Asia.
