HENRY VAN DE VELDE (3 abr 1863 ano – 15 out 1957 ano)
Descrição:
Architect, industrial designer and Belgian painter who worked in several European countries (France, Germany, Switzerland and Holland). He is considered one of the founders of Art Nouveau in Belgium. Later it evolved towards the Rationalism showing itself in favor of the absence of ornamentation. He directed since 1902 the Weimar Kunstergewerblicher Institute (school of arts and crafts), which became in 1919 in the Bauhaus de Gropius.
He thought that all the arts should be subject to the decorative arts, because by improving the environment of man, man improved. For this reason, he designed every detail of his spaces, composing his works in their entirety, through a constructive and utilitarian line.
