Descrição:

Lord Curzon was the Viceroy and Governor General of India (January 1899 –November 1905). Educated at Oxford, he was a person with great intellectual powers, capacity for work and had a strong sense of duty.
His period has been one of the most controversial period in India's colonial history.
His partitioned Bengal in 1905, a move seen as dividing the Hindus and Muslims, and an attempt to curb Nationalism.

During his period he allocated larger finances to education. State took a more active role in Education. Vigorous attempts at qualitative improvement made in all types of educational institutions. Controversial reforms like Indian University Act was enacted.

End of his period saw the quest for national education.
