The U.S army wanted to make it known that mental illnesses were not immune to anyone, especially given the horrific circumstances soldiers experienced during the war and so they released a documentary to bring awareness to people who have PTSD. Sometimes soldiers would be given alcohol to calm themselves or other drugs (one being sodium pentothal).
