The printing press was first developed when Johann Gutenberg realized that he could use the metal stamps used for jewelry to make symbols and print them on a surface. Printing became so popular also due to the fact that there was a great amount of paper that could be used. Many different people started to create their own printing presses and produced books on anything they could sell, from manuals to fiction to biographies.
