Recruitment of WWI Remains Steady (4 ago 1914 ano – 1 fev 1916 ano)
Descrição:
With 60,000 men enlisted by the end of 1914, Canada had a force of over 100,000 soldiers overseas come June of 1915. Their goal was to have one man in a reserve in England for every two on the front (back up plans).
In the fall of 1915, Canada had two divisions with a strength of over 40,000 fighting in France. However, with the brutality of trench warfare and the battlefield itself, each division that was fighting would need replacements at a rate of around 15,000 men a year.
The volunteer / enlisting rate peaked in the early months of 1916 and then fell off.
