Townshend Acts (1 jan 1767 ano – 5 mar 1770 ano)
Descrição:
These were a group of acts including taxes on many building materials and general goods. This further incited the colonies to smuggle goods and refuse to buy British goods. Among the acts were the Writs of Assistance which supposedly gave Britain the right to search containers for smuggled goods. All of these acts except a tax on tea were repealed because of colonial boycotts. The unrest caused by these acts led to the beginning of the Boston Massacre.
