Shi Huangdi, Emporer and ruler of the Qin Dynasty, unified China during his rule, from its standards of measurement to its writing. He was a legalist dictator, and although harsh, he accomplished much. During his reign, the Great Wall of China was begun to keep out Northern nomads.
