The Jin launched an over hundred-year war against the Song dynasty, which at the time was based in southern China. Throughout their rule, the Jurchens of Jin quickly adapted to Chinese customs, and even strengthened the Great Wall against the rising Mongols. The Jin saw a number of cultural and technological advancements, like the gunpowder and the revival of Confucianism.
