The Plague of Matis (414 - 430) (1 jan 414 ano – 1 jan 430 ano)
Descrição:
A disease that caused high fevers, cold sweats, buildup of fluid in the lungs and tremors in the limbs spreads throughout the Empire.
The Plague of Matis, as it became called after the Emperor Matis V died from it at 22 years of age, is estimated to have killed roughly 5-10 million people, about a quarter of the Empire's population.
The manpower shortages caused by the plague in turn caused the economic crisis and famines of the early 5th century, as a lack of working hands left many fields untended and many jobs without workers.
