Warring factions: Iraq supported by Iran vs ISIS and the White Flags
Location: Mountainous regions of Kirkuk, Salahaddin, Diyala, and Nineveh.
Notes: The White Flags were a militant Kurdish group in Iraq comprised of former ISIS members and Kurdish rebels, possibly affiliated with al-Qaeda. After losing the territorial advantage they had in Iraq, they were still largely present in the area. They moved through villages asking for food and funding, as well as information on the whereabouts of political leaders. Several insurgencies arose.
Support: Iraq was funded by the United States, Iran, the United Kingdom, and France.
