The British were desperate for the cooperation of the Indians in the war effort and thus sent Sir Stafford Cripps to discuss certain issues with Indian leaders. This came to be known as the Cripps mission. However, the Cripps mission was rejected by both the Congress and The League as it did not include the transfer of power to the Indians.
