Malebranche: A dualist who said the link is made by God. “A theological form of Platonism”:

Plato held that the true Ideas or Forms of things have a kind of perfection that neither ordinary objects
nor representations of them in human minds do, and therefore must exist someplace else;
Malebranche takes the obvious further step of supposing that perfect ideas can exist only in the perfect intellect of God.

The crucial point is that genuine understanding consists in the apprehension of ideas, even though these are literally in the mind of God rather than of individual human beings, rather than of physical objects, even though the latter do exist. Malebranche had significant influence on both Berkeley and Hume.
