The Act of Supremacy involved two separate acts of the English Parliment, in which it recognized Henry VIII as the “Supreme Head of the Church of England.” The Act of Supremacy established the English monarch as the leading religious force of the Church of England. Consequently, it replaced the power held by the Catholic Pope in Rome.
