The Umayyad Emirate of Córdoba was a medieval Islamic kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula. Established in 756 by Abd al-Rahman I, a prince of the deposed Umayyad dynasty, it encompassed southern, central, and eastern Iberia, regions known as Al-Andalus.
