Safavid was a dynastic Empire in modern-day Iran and is often considered the beginning of modern Iranian history establishing Shi’a Islam as its official religion. The empire grew to include large sections of Eurasia including parts of Russia, Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, Turkey ,Syria and Pakistan.
