When Sun Yat-Sen dies, Chiang Kai-shek (Jiang Jieshi) becomes a military dictator

Rejects Western democracy

In 1921, Communist party develops in China with USSR support

Initially Chiang welcomes the party

But then, he turns on them and kills 5,000 people --> starts the civil war

Communist party led by Maotse Dung --> fighting against him

War is interrupted by Japanese invasion in 1937 but communist party and Maotse Dung eventually win in 1949
