Operation Rolling Thunder was a codename for a bombing campaign during the war. U.S aircrafts attacked targets throughout Northern Vietnam. Its purpose was to put military pressure on the North Vietnamese communist leaders. Operation Rolling Thunder marked an expansion of United States involvement in the war.
