The Siege of Boston was the eleven-month battle. From 19 April 1775 to 17 March 1776. American militiamen trapped British troops within Boston. During the siege, many colonists moved out of Boston, and some Loyalists from the close countryside moved into town. Conditions inside of the town were rough for all who stayed. Although the British held control of the harbor, supplies fell while they waited for ships to come to their rescue.
