Hadad II (Hadar) (1 jul 980 ano antes da era comum – 1 jan 930 ano antes da era comum)

Descrição:

Genesis 36:35-36; 1 Kings 11:14-25; 1 Chronicles 1:46-47

Hadad was only a small child when he fled to Egypt to escape from David's armies in Edom, who were led by Joab. While in Egypt, he was raised by the Pharaoh and even married into the Egyptian royal family with his marriage to Mehetabel, the sister of Taphenes, the daughter of Pharaoh Psusennes II (which would make him a close relation to Solomon, which also married a daughter of Pharaoh [see 1 Kings 3:1]).

When David died, Hadad formed a small army and fought against Solomon, ultimately recapturing Edom and restoring its independence from Israel.

As a restored nation, Edom, led by Hadad, conquered the Midianites, driving them out of the land of Moab.

The Chronicler's list of Edomite kings notes that Hadad died, whereas the Genesis account does not.
