The Korean war was a conflict between the Soviet-aligned People's Republic of Korea (North), and the NATO-aligned Republic of Korea (South). The war was fought directly by the United States, and although never officially ended, the war resulted in a ceasefire between the two Korean governments that is still in effect to this day. The picture shown is of General MacArthur and various other US Army officers marching in the snow.
