Mexican-American War (25 abr 1846 ano – 2 fev 1848 ano)
Descrição:
The first of many wars of American expansion and imperialism, the Mexican-American war was the a war between the United States and Mexico over border disputes. The United States under President James Knox Polk wanted to admit Texas, California, and others into the Union. The war ended in a victory for the United States, and resulted in the current border America has with Mexico today. In a book titled 'The War with Mexico Reviewed' written in 1850, Abiel Abbot Livermore writes, "It is beginning to be understood, that the Providence of God is manifested through the rise and fall of nations." (Livermore, 1). This review of the war shows how influences in America favored imperialism at the time.
