- Much larger than Mexica
- Elaborate road system
- More bureaucratic than Mexica
- Made efforts to assimilate conquered peoples: Forced to learn Inca language, had to acknowledge Inca gods, Mit'a
- Mit'a: everyone had to eventually work for state: kind of like tax
- Gender parallelism

-Spanish victory Inca Empire destroyed
-Last Inca emperor Atahualpa executed
-Resistance broke out but ultimately destroyed
-Former Inca lands incorporated into the Spanish Empire
