Descrição:
Imhotep is thought to have served as Egypt's chief physician during his tenure as high priest. As the builder of the Step Pyramid and a physician, he was also responsible for the medical care of thousands of workers on that massive project. He is also credited with founding Egyptian medicine and authoring the so-called Smith papyrus, which contains a collection of 48 specimen clinical records with detailed accurate records of the features and treatment of various injuries. As such, he is the first physician known by name in ancient Egypt and the first physician known by name in the world's written history.
