Abijah was Rehoboam's son. He reigned for 3 years.
He was evil because he was not fully devoted to God.
"Abijam began to reign over Judah... And he walked in all the sins that his father did before him, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God." (1 Kings 15:1, 3)
a. Once, when Abijah was at war with Jeroboam, Israel ambushed Judah and had them surrounded. Then Abijah and the army of Judah called out to God and He helped them win the battle. Jeroboam did not attack again in the days of Abijah.
