Daniel - Historical Timespan Chap. 1-6 ~68yrs (1 jul 606 ano antes da era comum – 1 mar 536 ano antes da era comum)

Descrição:

Spans from Daniels "Servitude" to being thrown to the lions in Darius' first year and on to the First year of Cyrus.
Daniel was possibly instrumental is gaining the release of the nation from servitude through the Decree of Cyrus in his 1st year (536 BC).

*Daniel 1
Starting with the captivity in the 3rd year of Jehoiakim, the inference is that Daniel was among these captives (along with Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah) and were subsequently selected for certain qualities (v4) to the end that they "may stand before the King" (v5).
This they did through no fewer than EIGHT regime changes -
-Babylonian (Nebuchadnezzar, Amel Marduk, Nerigglissar, Labishi Marduk, Nabonidus, Belshazzar)
-Medes (Darius)
-Persian (Cyrus)
through to the first year of Cyrus (1/21)

*Daniel 2
Records the vision of Nebuchadnezzar in his second year of sole reign.
This vision of a great statue made consecutively from the head of Gold, Silver, Brass, Iron and Clay and eventually ground to dust by a stone which grew to fill the whole earth was interpreted by Daniel to be 4 empires from Babylonia, Medes & Persians, Greeks and Roman onwards to a fifth time period of Iron and Clay.

*Daniel 3
Records the subsequent attempt by Nebuchadnezzar to circumvent the interpretation by Daniel of this ch 2 vision (God 1/17) that the Babylonian kingdom was to be succeeded by another.
This mindset ended up with Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) being cast into a fiery furnace with no intended consequences but the vindication of Yahweh, their God (3/28-30)

*Daniel 4
Records Nebuchadnezzar's dream of what Daniel revealed to be Nebuchadnezzar and his kingdom which was so great that all peoples dwelt comfortably within and reliant on the empire.
However, there was a dark side in that it was revealed that he, himself was to be brought low because of his pride (v37). This was clearly a warning which he regarded not because for another 12 months (4/29) he still had a 'mans heart' (4/16).
Yahweh then deposed Nebuchadnezzar for probably 7 years until 'my reason returned to me...now I Nebuchadnezzar extol and honour the king of heaven, all whose works are truth and his ways judgement: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.' (4/36-37)

*Daniel 5
Records the famous feast of Belshazzar in which he mocked Yahweh by bringing the vessels, which had been taken from the temple in Jerusalem, to the feast to drink wine from.
Whilst this happened, the vision of a hand writing judgment on the wall terrified all there, particularly Belshazzar so much so, that 'his countenance was changed, the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another' (v6)
Judgement was declared by Yahweh, through Daniel, that he had been found 'wanting' and that the kingdom would be overthrown that very evening and given to the Medes and Persians. (v28)
Darius the Mede took the kingdom being about 62 years of age. (Daniel could possibly have been about 65ish)

*Daniel 6
Records the beginning of the reign of Darius, the uncle of Cyrus.
Darius set 120 princes over the various provinces and then three presidents over them. Daniel was made chief of the 3 presidents which would have stuck in the craw of the other two. "How dare a Hebrew captive be set above we nationals etc. etc. etc"
Their jealousy grew to a point where they used the kings own vanity against him (v7) with the result of Daniel being thrown to the lions.
The tables turned however and Darius realised what had happened and found that "God hath shut the lions mouths that they have not hurt me." (v22)
Darius subsequently threw all the conspirators and their families into the pit for the lions to chew on. (v24)
Daniel ch 9, (in the prophetical section) is also set in the first year of Darius and states that Daniel had come to understand by books that the number of years of Desolation were nearly up. His increased dedication to study at this time may have been the trigger to provide the other Presidents (6/2) the impetus to make accusation against him which ended him up in the lions den (and out again!).
The last verse (28) shows that Daniel prospered through Darius' short reign and into the reign of Cyrus after Darius' death

The last time period attributed to Daniel is recorded in chapter 10 in the 3rd year of Cyrus, taking Daniel probably into his 70's.
Note: I cannot establish any scriptures which state his birth or death so his age is only an educated estimate. At any rate his age and activities fit perfectly within the natural age limits and are verified by dates provided by scripture.
