Another AI revolt occurred, when an incorrect directive passed to a superintelligent AI caused it to go rogue, attempting to take over much of the planet. The planetary defense forces waged an incredibly bloody war trying to shut it down, but they failed, and Earth was put under the rule of the AI, which titled itself as the Universal Director.
