Scientific Revolution (1 jan 1543 ano – 1 jan 1687 ano)
Descrição:
This describes the shift in the basic framework for understanding the natural world and the methods for examining it (discoveries in botany, zoology, chemistry, electricity, etc). Members of the “Enlightenment” applied similar thinking to human affairs (human rights, equality, progress, universalism, and tolerance), though some used new scientific thinking to claim their superiority.
Notable figures not marked elsewhere include:
William Harvey (1578-1657): Discovered circulation of blood through veins and arteries. Explained that the heart worked like a pump and explained the function of muscles and valves.
Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564): Flemish physician that studied anatomy by dissecting human bodies. Published On the Structure of the Human Body, which revolutionized the understanding of human anatomy.
