Jōmon Period (~14.500 - 300 BCE) (1 jan 14500 ano antes da era comum – 2 jan 300 ano antes da era comum)

Descrição:

The name Jōmon comes from pottery marked with cords (i.e. their texture was imprinted on the pots). These pots had pointy bottoms and were practical for sticking in the soil, but not for use on a hardwood floor in a home. The Jōmon
were primarily hunter-gatherers, though they did develop a good deal of culture (and little clay figurines called dogū). They used bows and kept dogs, and fished. There was some
agriculture, but it was small in scale and mostly
centered around beans and nuts. A drop in
temperature led to declining mammal populations and reduced their numbers.
