Post Impressionism takes the principles created by the Impressionist movement and injects elements of symbolism and emotional expression to the work. Some artists chose to adapt painterly qualities found in impressionism to their works, leaving them sketchy with visible brushstrokes. Others chose to merely take the ideas of painting modernity and create their own artistic interpretation of such scenes.
