The Tang Dynasty is regarded as one of the golden ages of China, Lasting Between 626 to 907 CE. During the Tang dynasty poetry and art flourished with nearly 50,000 poems made by over 2,000 Tang poets including many like Li Bai and Du Fu have been preserved. Painting and pottery also played an important role in tang culture. With painters like Wu Daozi and Yan Liben. Additionally, pottery also saw huge advancements with finishes in white porcelain, three color pottery, and a type of celadon being developed by Tang artists.

The Tang dynasty also saw the rize of the only female empress in China, Wu Zhao, who is a controversial character as she was one of the most ruthless rulers in China (killing many of her rivals) while also being a capable ruler improving the government and lowering taxes for peasants.

Buddhism experienced a golden age in China during the Tang dynasty. Throughout most of the Tang dynasty Buddhism was extremely popular, with even the emperor's favoring it despite most of them being daoist. The amount of Buddhist monasteries also grew along with the land they owned.
