On 21 March, the USS Comet engaged HMS Falcon and HMS General Clinton near the Charles Town bar with no damage to either side. On 22 march the South Carolina Navy Ship Comet defeated and captured the HMS General Clinton, a mammoth battleship. This was the first time the South Carolina Navy defeated a British Warship.
