After the liberation of New Guinea, the Allied forces turned towards the rubber rich island of Borneo. With the Japanese forces slowly being redeployed to northern China and Korea, the Allied armies only faced token Japanese forces. However, the thick jungle terrain severely slowed the allied campaign through the island.
