Anno Domini calendar invented (1 jan 525 ano – 1 jan 526 ano)

Descrição:

A monk named Dionysius Exiguus created the Anno Domini (AD) dating system in 525 AD hoping to better understand the dating of Easter. In this system, the year 1 AD was made to be the year when Jesus Christ was born, although later on, it could be seen that his birth occurred well before this.

The use of this calendar became more accepted and common, and it is now the most widely used system for counting years in the world.

This calendar also started the use of BC (Before Christ) and AD, although the use of this became common by the 9th century, after Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne started to use the system for dating acts of government throughout Europe. During the 15th century, all of Western Europe used and accepted the B.C. and A.D.
