The Magna Carta was the first document put in writing to stop those who were high in the feudal system from exploiting their power. It stated that the King and his government were not ‘above the law’.
The Magna Carta effected all Australians, as it shaped the human rights and freedoms, and advanced our ideas of freedom, justice, and the rule of law.
The Magna Carta was written by John, King of England at the time, his barons and church leaders, with the purpose of limiting the King’s power.
