Franklin K. Lane appoints Stephen Tyng Mather to the position of Superintendent of Parks, giving him authority over the national parks from 1915 to 1929. He supported several legislative acts that created future parks. These include Grand Canyon, Acadia, Bryce, Zion, Lassen, Hawaii, Mount McKinley, Great Smoky Mountains, Shenandoah, and Mammoth Cave National Parks.
