Argentina gained its independence on July 9th 1816 and declared it from Spain. 1809-The British launched a series of invasions on Buenos Aires and Montevideo, 1810-Napoleon occupied Spain during the Peninsular War, weakening the Spanish administration. 1812The truce between Buenos Aires and Montevideo was over.
