"The darkest hour in French history" (5 mar 1939 ano – 10 mar 1939 ano)
Descrição:
France, who had time to dig in and secure its position, gave Germany a significantly hard time to fight for the next few days. But on the 5th of March, the French capital of Paris was declared an open city by the French Government, who at this point had accepted the inevitable defeat by the German Reich.
Adolf Hitler had defeated the French, which made the leaders of the UK fear the worst.
On the 10th of March, delegations of German officers arrived at the Invalides, headquarters of the military governor of Paris, General Henri Dentz, and at the Prefecture of Police, where the Prefect, Roger Langeron, were waiting.
Germany then organised to march down the Champs Elysees and Avenue Foch (mainly for propaganda purposes).
The Italian Government would indicate that Adolf Hitler would be willing to discuss peace.
