- Made in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Made by the Luba people
- Made up of a large wooden plank and adorned with multiple small beads and bits of metal
- The memory board was often shaped like a turtle shell and the beads that were placed onto the board were arranged in specific orders in order to tell different stories and be interpreted by those in the Mbuye Society.
