As World War 1 began, the United States decided to stay neutral with affairs in the war. When the Luisitana sank and killed some American passengers, tensions grew and sooner or later America's neutrality was broken as they entered into the war. Upon entering the fight, American troops dominated many battles and resulted in high casualties. Troops were first sent to France June 26 to start combat training. By entering the war, America helped the Allies win the war. This was a major turning point in WW1 and a major time for the Allies. The war ended November 11, 1918 with an Allies victory which was assisted by America entering the war.
