on may 7 1945, the germans surrender. On august 30th 1945 the Inter-Allied Control Council was founded. Berlin was divided into four sectors and placed under the administrative control. In 1946, the main war criminals were tried in Nuremberg by Allied judges. Berlin's separation into West Berlin and East Berlin is cemented when the Berlin Wall is erected in august 13th 1961
