Battle of Dien Bien Phu (13 mar 1954 ano – 17 maio 1954 ano)
Descrição:
This was the first Indochina war that took place after the French occupied the territory in 1953. In March, Viet Minh commander Vo Nguyen Giap prepared to take it over. He started attacking the key points that were required to hold the land and took control of the airstrip to finish it off.
This war was so brutal, it led to the surrender of France on May 7, 1954. Around 14,000 men were lost and that was just enough for the French Prime Minister to gain support of the cabinet members to sign the Geneva Accords.
