A number of little class men and women moved into immigrant neighborhoods to experience the problems immigrant families experience first-hand. they lived and worked in spaces called settlement houses, hoping to reform and relieve the effects of property by giving social services in the community. The Hull House, started by Jane Addams, was the most famous examples. Settlement houses provided early childhood education, taught English to immigrants, taught industrial arts, and developed theaters and music schools in the neighborhood.
